OutSaskatoon Webinar August 26, 2021
On August 26, 2021, SFNFCI hosted a one-hour webinar using the Zoom meeting platform titled Queer 101 Providing Service in an Inclusive Way, facilitated by Wendy Li, Education and Research Manager OUTSaskatoon. There were 13 attendees for the webinar. Participants were invited from all SFNFCI’s groups and networks, as it was opened to all the groups we serve.
Participants were introduced to the foundations of identity, terminology, proper language, and how to provide services in an inclusive way. Participants were also lead through a group discussion and an assessment of their workplace which included actions that could be taken at the workplace, followed by time for questions and answers.
Topic covered: Terminology, gender inclusive language, pronouns, washrooms, change rooms, and gendered spaces, the concept of safe space, what it is to be an ally, and how to provide inclusive customer service.
