Facilitating Change, Prevention Training, February 11-12 2020

On February 11-12th 2020 SFNFCI held Facilitating Change training, facilitated by Tala Tootoosis with elder Judy Pelly present for support to the learners. There was 19 learners who completed this training from Agency Chiefs CFS, Birch Narrows Dene Nation, Meadow Lake Tribal Council CFS, Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation, Onion Lake Family Services Inc, Peter Ballantyne CFS, and Touchwood CFS. Prevention programming often involves workers holding large groups and community events. 
This two-day course provides a hands-on approach to facilitation and public speaking. Participants will learn about the key concepts public speaking and facilitating groups; examine their personal public speaking style; characteristics of groups/audiences; creating and using a variety of presentation media; and challenging group situations. This is a practical course that provides learning through instruction, discussion, small and large group work, practice and feedback. This course is designed to equip you with the ability to: 
1. Understand the key elements of public speaking and facilitating groups. 
2. Examine your personal public speaking style. 
3. Develop a basic understanding of group dynamics.
4. Prepare and plan a facilitation activity or session. 
5. Create and use a variety of presentation materials 
6. Manage difficult or challenging groups/participants
