Prevention courses were developed in consultation with First Nation Child Welfare Prevention Staff. Complies with the SFNFCI Prevention Standards. Prevention Training has been scheduled for delivery from September 2019 to March 2020 – Register online under Calendar of Events. Prevention community-based deliveries may be an option for some communities if the host has a minimum of 15 learners.
The Prevention Training Program Consists of 11 courses:
~ Introduction to Prevention in Child Welfare – 1 Day
~ Communication Skills for Prevention Workers- 2 Days
~ Prevention Planning Program – 2 Days
~ Managing multiple priorities- 1 Day
~ Documentation Skills for Prevention Workers- 2 Days
~ Engaging Clients through Therapeutic Interventions- 1 Day
~ Mental Health First Aid: Adults who interact with Youth – 2 Days
~ Facilitating Change- 2 Days
~ Facilitating Life Skills Development- 3 Days
~ Grief and Loss- 2 Days
~ Culture and Diversity – 2 Day
