On-Reserve Income Assistance Reform Project 

 

The Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute was invited byt Assembly of First Nations to speak at the 4th Annual Forum on Income Assistance: From Surviving to Thriving. The Forum on Income Assistance was a 3 day event that took place on March 21-23, 2023 and was held in Enoch Cree Nation, Alberta. The presentation focused on First Nations Innovation in the Income Assistance Program as SFNFCI begins their On-Reserse Income Assistance Reform Project. 

 

 

On-Reserve Income Assistance Reform Project Final Report 2019

 

The On-Reserve Income Assistance Program Reform Project was a 7 month project that started in September 2018 to May 2019.

The intent was to collect information regarding program efficiencies, deficiencies and areas of improvement the Income Assistance Program needed to better meet the basic needs of its beneficiaries.

The IA Project team conducted surveys, Focus Groups and Interviews with First Nations Elders, Leadership, IA Clients, IA Workers and Youth.
