This two-day course is designed to introduce participants to role of the prevention worker in providing grief and loss support to clients. Through an understanding of grief, participants will demonstrate knowledge and skills to support clients experiencing grief and loss. Participants will also examine their own grieving and the importance of modelling positive, healthy grief and loss recovery for others.
As you prepare to begin this module, as yourself the following questions:
What is grief?
Why do children grieve differently than adults?
How do I best support a grieving client?
How do we support clients to grieve in healthy ways?
Desired outcomes upon completion of this module:
Participants will understand what grief is and that is possible to heal from grief
Participants will learn and practice the process of helping children and youth complete relationships left incomplete because of loss
Participants will learn how children grieve.
Participants will understand that is important to model good grief for youth.
