Professional Boundaries and Confidentiality (IA Working Group)

This two-day course is designed to engage participants to explore ethics, values, and boundaries within their personal and professional lives. Participants will look at how ethics, values, and boundaries impact those they serve, as well as explore how to handle situations where ethics, values, and boundaries may come into conflict. Participants will demonstrate knowledge and skills in handling confidentiality issues, boundary conflicts, and dual/multiple relationships that can arise in a work setting, including their on-line presence and social media.
Desired Outcomes
Upon completion of this course,
- Participants will be able to define and describe ethics and ethical decision-making models and how they apply personally and professionally.
- Participants will be able to define and describe personal and professional boundaries and how they apply communicate and enforce boundaries.
- Participants will select appropriate approaches to dealing with boundary issues.
- Participants will explore dual/multiple relationships and develop strategies on howe to manage them.
- Participants will explore how digital and social media can impact issues of confidentiality and dual/multiple relationships.
- Participants will be able to explore confidentiality issues and apply strategies to deal with potential confidentiality conflicts, including safety and client relationship.
Note: 100% attendance is required to receive course certification.
