The Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute Inc. (SFNFCI) is the leading, innovative, sustainable, holistic center of research and professional learning to organizations serving children, youth and families.  

What we do

We are a professional development and research Institute. We work with First Nation Child Welfare Agencies and those who serve First Nation children. At SFNFCI we provide services such as: Prevention Training Program for prevention workers, Group Home Training Program for group home staff, Shelter Training for shelter workers, and Board Training for Board of Directors. Conditions for Consideration

  • Subject to a Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sector query as a condition of consideration per fiscal year.

Facilitation/Training Services

  • Requires knowledge of training methods, adult education theory and approaches
  • Understands how First Nations history can impact learning
  • Group facilitation strategies that promote development of a safe, learner-centered environment, group cohesion, comfort with risk taking, and commitment to common learning objectives
  • Conduct pre and post assessment evaluations for all  facilitation and training programs

  • We expect facilitators to have and demonstrate respect for the learners, the organization, and the communities
  • We expect facilitators to be accountable to learners and to the Institute
  • We expect facilitators to honor the varied lived realities and cultural diversity of learners and communities
  • We expect facilitators to be open and willing to continually develop a deeper understanding of learners and the communities they represent
  • We expect facilitators to foster innovation and creativity within the learning environment
  • We expect  facilitators to demonstrate a commitment to their own personal and professional learning and to remain current in their field of practice
