Membership
The Institute is a non-profit organization, incorporated under the Saskatchewan Non-Profit Corporations Act. The Institute provides professional services to First Nations Child and Family Services Agencies who provide child protection and prevention services in First Nations communities.
According to SFNFCI Bylaws, Delegated First Nations Child and Family Services Agencies can become voting members for SFNFCI.

Stakeholders
The institute engages with various stakeholders, many of which include government organizations, Indigenous organizations and community-based organizations. The Institute works closely with First Nations Group Homes in Saskatchewan. The Board of Directors and Staff of the First Nations Group Homes are often involved in many of the activities and professional development services that the Institute undertakes to assist in building capacity for First Nations Child Welfare workers.
